The Albury Street Rodders had humble beginnings, starting in the shed of their first President, Colin Manglesdorf, on September 13th, 1972.
With just 3 other members, they chose the club name that evening. On January 8th, 1973, with 10 members, they officially became recognized as a club and joined the ASRF, becoming the first club affiliated with ASRF to have "Street Rodders" in its name.
Prospective members had to attend two meetings and be voted in. The club's membership grew to 25, and meetings were held at Lavington Public Hall on the first Monday of each month. The club address was 365 Sioux Court, Lavington, NSW. During those early years, members rented spaces in a large shed to store and work on their projects.
The Albury Street Rodders attended the first Street Rod Nationals at Narrandera and have returned many times since. They also participate in the Narrandera Annual Show, driving Miss Showgirl around the arena, and the Narrandera Rod & Custom Run every Easter. In 2012, they celebrated their 40th Anniversary, and in 2017, their 45th Anniversary with a membership of 45.
2022 marks the club's 50th Anniversary. Members attend Rod Runs and Swap meets across Australia and overseas, organizing regular club runs and involving themselves in charity work. The club rooms are located near the airport off the Riverina Hwy, with meetings held on the second Monday of each month.
The Albury Street Rodders organize the annual Shed Run, visiting sheds with cars under construction and private collections. They also hold coffee mornings and monthly runs to neighboring towns, meeting with other clubs. Members display their cars at charity events to draw a larger attendance.
Each year, the club awards a perpetual trophy to the car that has best represented the club during the previous financial year. Eligibility criteria include participation in an ASRF Nationals and being an associate club member for more than 12 months. The AGM, held in July, is an exclusive event for club members.
Join the Albury Street Rodders if you share an interest in Hotrods, Customs, American Muscle cars, or pre-80s chrome-bumpered modified cars and pickup trucks. They welcome new members to attend club meetings and participate in their exciting events.
